Puppy Love

Although Fuscia Designs is all about the flowers for your special day, we can’t deny, we love all things wedding. And special touches, well those come in many shapes and sizes and even species! Yes, that’s right, we love when our dogs are incorporated into the festivities.

Like flowers, there are many ways to incorporate your best friend into your best day. However, like all aspects of your wedding, it is not without proper planning and some effort that your pooch walking down the aisle will go off without a hitch.

So here are some training tips from KatyK9 that we wanted to share with you if you’re thinking of having your pup be part of your nuptials.

  • Enlist the help of a trainer if you want to get it right

  • Your dog should be able to hold sit and stay with a release command

  • Your dog should have proper recall

  • To carry anything down the aisle, they need to know “take it” and “drop it” commands

  • Exercise your dog physically and mentally ahead of time

  • Take your dog down the “aisle” several times before the big day

  • Enlist the help of your family to cause “distractions” so your pup learns to listen to the one leading him

  • Make sure whoever will be handling the dog, practices with you

  • Be sure she has done her business prior to

  • Bring lots of treats

  • Employ a dog handler to take care of your dog while it’s not performing wedding duties, that way she can whisk your pooch away so you can enjoy the rest of your special day

Whether you are planning on having your pooch pose for pictures, carry the rings down the aisle or accompany your flower girl, these tips are sure to help avoid any hiccups.

We all envision a wedding day to be the perfect culmination of love, celebration, family and friends. And for many of us, our dogs are an integral part of our lives, so why not include them in the happiest day of our lives. True love AND puppy love, what could be better?

Pretty in Pastels, Mia and Dan 25.05.13

We met Mia and Dan just under a year and half before their May 25th, 2013 wedding, we knew from the minute we met that we were the perfect fit to create their ultimate day. It was to be filled with pretty spring blooms in soft pastels, layers and levels of florals, complemented with regal gold and elegant silver accents, overall...The Epitome of Romance, Beauty and Glamour! In tune with all things that we adore, we loved every gorgeous minute!

We are so thrilled to have the opportunity to relive Mia and Dan's breathtaking wedding day and share it with you, through the stunning images captured by Gillian Williamson of Ikonica. We hope that you love it as much as we do!

Mia and Dan, we wish you eternal bliss, love and happiness xo

A TABLESETTING FOR ALL

Hello Everyone!

The beautiful weather we've had as of late is definitely a warm welcome to our 2013 Wedding Season! Before we are whisked away into the busy months ahead, we would love to share more of our Gorgeous tablesettings with you, from the One King West Open House we were apart of back in January!

 Enjoy!

Inspired by the West Coast sun of San Francisco and Gorgeous Vineyards of Nappa Valley, Succulents and Blooms in hues of Ivory, Purple, Lilac/Lavender and Grey undertones are complemented with Silver vessels and Textured linen.

Sparkling White, like the Flecks of Snow on a Winter's day, this tablesetting offers Presence and Scale, with layers of Luscious White Florals, White Sequin Linen and Glass and Silver accents.

The Delicate and Soft colour palette with Gold accents and Beautiful Lace complements, lends a Romantic and Vintage nuance to this Classic and Elegant tablescape...the Epitome of Romance! And, one of our most requested and popular style.

Dramatic, Alluring and Seductive... This tablescape evokes a sense of Mystery, an aura of Dark Romance - Enthralled by the Beauty of Pink Blooms, layered Pink Baby's Breath, Feathers and Black Lace...Inspired by a literary classic, the Beautiful words from 'The Great Gatsby', translates into this intimate soirée setting!

Vibrant, Golden Sun-kissed Florals -These Beauties, paired with Sleek and Contemporary Plexi Candelabras, accented with Textural Petal place settings and Sparkling Black Sequin linens offers Masculine subtleties, while inviting you to a Sophisticated and Modern Dining Extravaganza!...

Right from the canvas of a Romantic still life painting, with a Bright and Vibrant colour palette, our Peach-toned Amaryllis and Sumptuous Purple complements with touches of Green, highlights the Sparkling Aubergine Sequins linen!

Inspired by the serenity and scenery of the Muskoka's...Our Lush White Florals with touches of Green, highlight the carved Mango Wood vessels and Coral coloured linen... A little something different!

Kevin's very own creation! Stylistically different than our other work, this centerpiece although much more simple, still has our Fuscia touch!      Pomanders of Sumptuous Purple toned florals set in Modern stemmed glass vases... Clean, Colourful and Funky.

The pièce de résistance...The Glamorous, Extravagant and ever so Romantic head table setting. A feast of beauty - with layers of Texture, highlighted with Glints of Sparkle and warmed by Full and Luscious Blooms in a Monochromatic colour palette. A Grand and Magnificent tablescape, fit for a truly unforgettable evening!

WELCOME 2013!

Happy 2013 and a Very Warm and Big Hello to All!

It has been a little while since our last post... Between weddings and events, time sometimes escapes us as we nimbly design in our Studio, with what sometimes looks like a wonderland brimming with flowers.

We have been so fortunate to have had such a wonderful and busy 2012, filled with Love, Laughter, all things Beautiful and of course, the honour of having gracious clients with whom we shared a snippet of their special and memorable day!

To kick-start the New Year, we had the pleasure of creating Magnificent and Inspiring tablescapes for the Open House at One King West in Toronto. Working alongside with some of the great professional staff at One King West, our Fuscia Team offered a dreamscape of ideas and table settings for all attendees.

There is truly nothing like a sea of Beautiful Colourful Blooms to Brighten up cold winter’s day.

A table fit for a Glamorous dining affair, captured by the talented Corina, of CORINA V PHOTOGRAPHY, showcases Sumptuous and Delicious hues of Fuscia, Pink and Red Florals atop Sparkling Gold Linen from HAVE A SEAT.  Drama and Grandeur resonates with the Bold touch of Black Crystal Candlesticks and Vessels, perfect for the Grand Banking Hall at ONE KING WEST... Shall we dine?

Hello

Welcome 2012...We’re back .....on the Blog Scene. We have been busy, designing up a storm of Wedding Florals and Décor for all our Fabulous 2011 clients. Each and every Wedding and Event, a Stunning Success, and a Floral and Décor Extravaganza…from Pristine all White Weddings, to Romantic Neutrals to Vibrant and Rich colour Palettes and Flowers. We had the pleasure of decorating the most Exquisite Venues, Spaces and Hotels in and out of Toronto, a few mentionables, The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Lake Joe Resort in Muskoka,, The Fermenting Cellar, Kevins all time favourite ...The Liberty Grand, and many, many more. We followed our Mantra of Go Big or Go Home and by our Thank you Notes and Sentiments, we did not disappoint. We were Enveloped in our Passion (and many times a studio full of flowers) of providing High Style, Impeccable Quality, Design and Service to all.

I would like to begin with our most recent event the Wedluxe Show at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, it was a Spectacular success with 1800 guests visting throughout the day to Experience the Epitome of Luxury, a Feast of Eye Candy and the most Stellar Services in the Wedding Industry.

We were in the company of a Spectacular Roster of Wedding Industry Colleagues and that Toronto has to offer, I have to say that everyone went all out and Brought It!!!!

Our display table was a reflection of Fuscia, it had Movement, Scale and Purpose. We had a quasi Ombre effect starting with Whites, graduating into Shades of Blush and Pink and building from either side to a Crescendo in the Center of the Table, of an Explosion of Fuscia!!!! We used Ultra Chic Vessels in matt Textural Whites fused with Shiny Chrome with the Focal Pias De Resistance, a cut Mirrored stand in the middle. It embodied, Definition Fuscia, unequivocally.

The Image with many thanks and courtesy to Corina V Photography

Please forgive me for the iphone pic taken above, obviously lacking the Romance, Light Infused and Detailed images captured by the fabulous Corina, as shown in the First Image and Below.

We also Decorated Small Vignettes of our Wedluxe Photo Shoots, named Kate Spade and Champagne, Carats and Crystal , come to life, best shown on the Wedluxe website in their blog section and of course in the magazine itself. You may also see more pictures of our tablescape on Wedluxe, in the Editors Blog, with coverage of the Show in its entirety.

I wanted to show the full tablescape to boasts the Stunning Sequin Linens and Lace Chair Slips.  Can you say,  to die for? its like the table is adorn in an Exquisite Evening Gown!!! We had the honour to display a sampling for the Linen Closet's Debut at The Wedluxe Show, of Luxerious Linens and Chair Slips from their Sparkle and Lace Collection. Stay tuned for the whole Fashion Inspired Collections, opening in April of 2012.

We were also tickled pink with the Gorgeous Designs by the ultra talented Deborah Lau, from PALETERRA Custom Correspondants, who completed our table, with Beyond Breathtaking Menus , Placecards and our Table Number, which was notably Table no. 1.

In addition we created Floral Arrangements for Torontos Top Wedding Planners Booths,

Cynthia Martyn  Wedding Planner and Stylist Extraordinaire, of Cynthia Martyn High Style Events' booth in shades of Corals, with a Hint of Pink (Cynthia's signature colour in which we share and adore) and Red, displayed in a Crystal Pedstal Vase on a Mirrored Base and on the Console a Mirrored rectangular vase. TheHighlight flowers were a Delicious combination of Fragrant Garden Roses, Amaryllis and Hydrangea.

and

provided Floral Arrangements for....

Platinum Events Group, shown here, the Fabulous Cindy Johnson, Principal Planner and Stylist and Gabriella Castillo, her equally fabulous assistant. We arranged a clean yet Luxe arrangement with all White Phalenopsis Orchids in an Ultra Chic (reflective, I think, of Cindy's tastes as a Stylist)White Textural Vase and a Floral Oblique on a Platinum stand for the coffee table.

Stay tuned for photographic updates of our 2011 weddings and our upcoming 2012 Design and Trends feature. We are super excited for 2012, are planning, meeting and designing concepts for all of our 2012 clients, as we speak. In 2012, one will expect our work to exert, an even closer attention to Detail in Design....with a more Architectural, Fashion Forward and Avante Garde approach, stylings by Fuscia Designs!!!!

Purple was the "it" colour for 2010 and this wedding shows it with passion and a cool modern vibe....

held at one of the most architecturally stunning venues in the city, The Art Gallery of Toronto . The couple Karen and Dave , were referred to us in the best way possible, through a friends wedding that we decorated two years ago. We have had such a blast working with both couples, stay tuned for another to come in 2011....back to Karen and Dave, they are a young, vibrant, modern and stylish couple who knew the feeling of what they sought as an overall vision, I won't mention which one over the other, nor a certain nickname that ensued, needless to say we had alot of fun along the way! The theme revolved into a clean, modern urban chic lounge style wedding, which complimented Karen and Dave's style perfectly.

without further adu,

I am so in love with Karens spectacular bouquet to this day (its on my fb profile as we speak), in shades of purple... from Lavender to Amethyst, to Eggplant, the flowers included Roses, Calla lilies and breathtaking, beyond gorgeous Phalenopsis and Vanda Orchids! Laura Jane rocked it out by capturing each flower perfectly!

Karen and her girls....are the stage, the bouquets merely players ( did I just bust out a quasi Shakesphere quote?) or shall I say accents to the beauty of the bride and her maids in this image.....you will notice the tones and shades of the flowers are ever previlent, this is the art and magic of a professional photographer!

wait for it.....wait for it....

Voila! a glamorous line up all of the bouquets in their entirety.... and minutes before they sashay .....up the aisle (as some call it the runway) for the ceremony

The Ceremony, surrounded by a circle of family and friends in Walkers Court, how Beautiful, Heartfelt and Endearing ...Love is in the air!......adorn with vignettes of leaning and submersed bouquets on all four corners of the alter space.....

The Exquisite Cake ..... a masterpiece in itself!

The Head Table, embellished with Bling and Crystal elements, not to mention a Fabulous Array of Purple Orchids, Calla lilies and Roses....

The Centerpieces, the epitome of a cool, trendy, lounge vibe with uplit Purple Dendrobium Orchids, Decorative Silver wiring and Bling candles! Artsy, Clean and Modern with a Glamorous nuance!

Roll out the Red Carpet for this Glamorous Wedding....

in Lipstick shades from Deep Crimson to Bright Cherry Red. There are so many elements that we loooved in creating the florals for this Luxe Vintage Hollywood Glam style wedding along with the fabulous Wedding Stylist and Planner Cynthia Martyn, from the Rich Red Hydrangea, Dahlias, Orchids and Roses to the antiqued Silver Mercury Vessels to the Black Feathers and Vintage Style Broach on the brides bouquet. The venue, The Great Banking Hall at 1 King West was equally magnificent and set the stage for the Drama factor, necessary for such an exquisite theme and genre. Our old stomping grounds it seems since we did the first wedding and event together at 1 King West upon its grand opening in 2006!

Our photo credits go to ultra talented Cynthia Martyn, thank goodness otherwise we wouldn't have a single shot this year....taken during set up, can't wait to see the professional perspective!

One of my favourite King style Head Tables this year, so Lush, Romantic and Intricate in Design. Love the contrast of the deep reds with silver, not to mention the simply adorable orchid pomanders!

We altered the centerpieces from high to low, the space simply demands high for presence, drama and grandeur (the ceilings are both ornate and super high) and the low offered lush texture and romance.

and no event would be complete (it seems) without our Signature, Embellished,Manzanita Trees! This one in Silver and just dripping of Glamour, with Crystals and Mokara Orchids on the branches and Red Hydrangea, Dahlias and Roses in the silver base.

The brides bouquet, in Luscious Lipstick shades, composed of Roses, Dahlias, Orchids and Berries and lest we forget the stunning accessories.....the stems are wrapped and finished with Mokuba Red Ribbon, an Antique style Crystal Broach and wisps of Black Ostrich Feathers!

At long last we have a 2010 wedding to post....and a Beautiful one at that!

Romantic,  Ethereal, Rich and fun, are words that I would use to describe this stunning wedding, styled by the fabulous, the one and only....Cynthia Martyn of Cynthia Martyn Events with flowers by Fuscia Designs. We were beyond excited about the concept of Sarah and Justins wedding from its inception, we have done sooo many colourful and vibrant weddings (which we totally love...hence FUSCIA designs), it was just sooo refreshing to design such a clean all white wedding with super stylish accents, vessels and macaroons.  Yes, Macaroons! the exquisite and whimsical macaroon towers shared the centerpiece portion of the decor by Lemontree Patisserie. The colour palette, a fabulous combination of muted teal blues, soft golds and ivory, which complimented The Four Seasons Grand Ballroom beautifully, darn your good Cynthia! I have fought with that room!....and sometimes you just have to work with it! The images were captured by the ever stylish Five15Photo company , thank you for capturing the details sooo beautifully! The cake, sooo pretty ....from I Do Cakes

How much fun are these shots!

and as always....a happy ending!

Strike a Pose...they had style, they had grace

....on the cover of a magazine....Vogue, Vogue, Vog....ok, so we aren't only getting carried away but selectively destroying the sequence of Madonnas lyrics! Apologies to the Diva herself!

What a fabulous experience...we had the opportunity to "get our vogue on" in a photo shoot captured by our good friend (fellow rockstar), colleague and respected professional in the industry, Joee Wong of JW Photography. We had such a blast "working it"on Bloor Street, with Joee. He comes with a wealth of experience, expertise (a model himself ), high energy and spirit.Through all the laughter, animation and posing...We aren't at all surprised that he managed to get some really fabulous image results out of it.... all of which to go with our new look, coming soon! here is a sample/teaser....for now

Before the shoot I had the honour and pleasure of having the one and only Jackie Gideon do my makeup, hence the flawless complexion, wider eyes and younger brows! Jackies work has graced many magazine covers, magazine spreads and top designers seasonal collections, to mention a few....A big thank you and shout out to jackie for making me not only look but feel beautiful! Jackie also does wedding make up, whatever your look and style she will transform or enhance your beauty so that you will feel beyond glamorous!

Oceana Ball 2010

Fuscia Designs involvement with Oceana Ball 2010

The Scoop....the moment we recieved the call to partner with good friends and colleagues, Cindy Johnson (Principal Wedding and Event Stylist of Platinum Events Group)and Jackie Gideon  (Canada's leading bridal and makeup editorial artist, Creative producer and Oceana Ball Committee Decor Chair) , with the design and decor for Oceana Ball 2010, we were honoured and elated for the opportunity to participate, without hesitation said count us in! We knew that this would be huge for Fuscia Designs on so many levels, not only to be involved with Torontos most fashionable event of 2010 but such a fabulous cause, The Herbie Fund for Sick Childrens Hospital. This also touched our hearts, as we have a dear friend who has experienced the magic of Sick Kids Hospital for her son, not even a year ago!

Once aboard, we met with Jackie, Cindy and the Oceana Ball Committee chair, Brittney Kuczynski , an amazing young woman having started the inaugral Oceana Ball in 2009 primarily on her own... beyond impressive! The unsurmountable passion, creative energy and dedication, is in a word contagious and collectively a tour de force!

We look forward to updating you as plans progress and we get closer to, however the best and only way to experience Oceana Ball 2010 is to purchase tickets, attend and donate!

Oceana Ball 2010 ...Save the date!

What: The Hautest and Most Fashionable Event of 2010 to be, yet the most fundamental in raising funds for The Herbie Fund at Sick Kids Hospital. Where Couture and Cause go hand in hand.

The Oceana Ball is a volunteer based group of talented and passionate individuals of all ages, who share the same ambition for the success of The Herbie Fund. For 2010 this eclectic committee is bringing together the country's most influential corporate movers and shakers with Canada's most innovative and iconic names in the fashion industry to create a completely unique and sensory experience for one spectacular evening in August.

Where:The Liberty Grand, Toronto's most Prestigious Entertainment Complex

A Treat for all the Senses....

This lavish evening includes the opening of an exhibition of images created by Canada's top fashion designers, photographers, models and artists. There will be an an opportunity for exclusive souveniers, with all proceeds raised for The Herbie Fund. An extraordinary culinary experience with special guests, followed by live entertainment (the celebrity linenup is sure to entice....coming soon!) and dancing into the evening. Not to mention the decor and eye candy will be over the top stunning, that I personally assure you ;)

When: Friday August 27th, 2010

Why, this the most Essential of all of the above, a bit about....

The Herbie Fund provides financial support so that children from around the world can recieve surgical treatment at The Hospital for Sick Children. Paul and Gina Godfery established the Herbie Fund in response to the needs of Herbie and children like him around the world. They feel strongly that every child should have access to medical care, regardless of financial position or geographical location.Their vision in creating the Herbie Fund was to disregard race, religion and finiancial status, simply outreaching to children in need.

The journey began in 1979, "The International Year of the Child", with Herbie Quinones, then a 7 month old baby from Brooklyn New York, who was born with a rare birth defect  that made it difficult to breathe while eating. The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto had developed an innovative procedure that could heal him, yet Herbie's family couldn't afford the flight or the surgery. The story was picked up by The Toronto Star and soon became a high profile news item, with Paul and Gina Godfrey's early involvement and leadership, The Herbie Fund was born. An outpouring of generous contributions from Torontonians and Canadians alike saved Herbies life by covering the transporation and hospital costs. Herbie now leads a happy and healthy life in Brooklyn , as a result.

To date, over 600 children from 88 countries have received specialized medical and surgical assistance that would not otherwise be available to them. Right now the Herbie Fund can only help about 30 children every year. The number of children depend entirely on the amount of money donated, your support is needed to increase this number and help children in need.

Flower Dogs brings to mind only one, Preston Bailey....

What do you think, would the great Preston Bailey approve of Phoebe?

Tamara (with a bad hair day) and the Great One....Preston Bailey, at Brides on Bloor in 06. It was an honour and a pleasure to have met and chatted with Preston, he is truly a gentleman and had only the sweetest compliments towards our work, the detail and finishings inclusive.

Phoebe!

A few shots of a wedding that we did in November with Cynthia Martyn Events at The Boulevard Club in Luscious Corals. The groom is a vetrenarian, fittingly we had the opportunity to create a flower dog. Not any dog, I might add, but a replica of the couples beloved shnauzer, Pheobe. Since there aren't many black flowers to draw from, we decorated her in a celebratory wedding white with all seasonal flat mums.

Without further adue, we present you Phoebe...

Wedluxe, Iconic Inspiration

Our first editorial in Wedluxe is another project that we are over the moon ecstatic to be a part of, with a celebratory champagne kudos to Cindy Johnson of Platinum Event Group,. We were working simultaneously on "the Big Give" organized by photographer, Joee Wong , www.jwphotography.ca , when Cindy invited us to join her in creating the below Iconic inspiration photo shoot, in theme and style of the ever classic Ralph Lauren. It was both an honour and a effervescent challenge, to pay tribute and respect the style of the great Ralph Lauren. We drew on our commonalities, the love of all things fashion and the islands. The Lauren home in Jamaica was one of our inspirations when styling the tablescape and bouquets. We loved the colour palette, a striking combination of mostly white and cobalt blue with yellow accents, as seen below The day of the shoot was so much fun and such an awesome experience that left Kevin and I wanting to style more photo shoots....., as mentioned previously there is nothing like carte blanche and working with such an elite calibur of professionals (listed below)....the artistic energy is beyond sensational...even better than chocolate and shopping!

Sadly and notably a hiccup.....Kevins name was left out as Fuscia Designs Partner Principal Creative Director, so do know that he was very much present , a part of the planning, design and installation of the set up. The wavy calla lily bouquets wrapped with rope, set atop of the etched silver vases...all him!

Thank you to our very talented colleagues, wedding professionals and friends for making this a reality!

Style Me Pretty's "Inspiration to Reality Challenge"

We recently had the honour and are super jazzed to have of been invited to take part in Style Me Pretty's, "Inspiration to Reality Challenge" and to top it off .....with such an extraordinary design team, of colleagues, professionals and friends! Readers designed and submitted their inspiration boards that they would like to see come to its fruition....we collectively chose the winning board (when I say "we" it typically means Kevin, this time...Cynthia), below....by Helena, named "Red Dress and Traditions". We felt it eclectic, rich in its yummy colour palette and symbolic elements, and that it allowed for design freedom and movement. The creative synergy when we all gathered was euphoric, if only clients could be a part of this magic as their design team collectively set the stage for their special day ....the ideas, the respect for each artists' thought and contribution, not to mention the funfactor was prolific! Join us in our excitement and anticipation by visiting Style Me Pretty, www.stylemepretty.com, often to see the unveiling of our spectacular collaboration, vision and result.
